Since its inception, the LAM Treatment Alliance has grown to become a critical convener for the field, forging strategic collaborations with academia, the pharmaceutical industry, government agencies and other private individual, community / corporate supporters. Position Overview
This newly created position was established in order to support the mission of the organization. The candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, including working with the Founder to develop and execute a strategic plan that ensures all organizational objectives are realized.
The Director of Operations will be responsible for building the organizational infrastructure to support the day-to-day office operations including hiring and training of staff, developing and refining office and human resource policies, procedures and protocols for effectiveness, efficiency and quality control. The Director of Operations will also be responsible for managing, motivating and training the staff and interfacing with many of our external consultants -- including organizing the team, including interns, in order to increase overall productivity, setting clear objectives, defining individual and team responsibilities, and holding everyone accountable to high standards in order to ensure successful outcomes in record time.
The Director of Operations will work with the financial and regulatory compliance team to ensure maximum impact and compliance requirements are met; with the communications team to help develop and execute a well-defined communications/ marketing strategy targeting patients, families, clinicians, researchers as well as the general public; with the scientific / research team to help execute and improve all programs; and finally, with our development strategy to develop, implement and manage the fundraising process.
Job Responsibilities
- Management:
- Build, lead and motivate team to achieve all organizational objectives.
- Manage LTA staff. Provide strong day-to-day leadership presence including guidance and mentorship as appropriate.
- Ensure that work-flow is smooth, anticipate and address disturbances (IT etc.)
- Manage relationships with consultants/vendors, including monitoring content, negotiating contracts, regular quality control, as needed.
- Coordinate staff development and training.
- Operations and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure ongoing alignment with organizational strategy, budget, financial and regulatory imperatives for non-profit corporations.
- Work with finance team to produce annual reports for the organization.
- Develop procedures and protocols for ongoing organizational activities to ensure smooth operations and ongoing communication.
- Oversee weekly staff meeting and best practices for managing up and down throughout the organization.
- Administer Human Resource policies.
- Programs:
- Work with the science/programs team to develop procedures and protocols that provide infrastructural and staff support to ensure events (ex. seminar series, summits) and clinical partnership-related goals and timelines are met.
- Work to ensure IT / database infrastructure maximizes technology and existing data to most effectively anticipate our needs to advance our mission.
- Development
- Work with the Founder to develop fund raising strategies
- Work with the staff to manage fund raising process including events held by LTA Chapters
- Work to ensure IT/database infrastructure most effectively provides information needed to grow our funding capacity.
- Work with Founder and staff to achieve organization’s goal of double digit increase in funds raised annually
- Communications:
- Work in conjunction with the Communications team to help build awareness for our mission and strategic aims.
- Write and/or edit marketing collateral materials (including website content), as needed.
- Enhance donor relations by cultivating existing and new high and low yield donors.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 6 years non-profit management experience
- Masters of Business Administration, or equivalent knowledge/experience, preferred. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in related fields (Communications, Economics, Science, and Business) desired.

- Proven track record for meeting organizational objectives with experience in general management, business development, marketing, development/fundraising, and/or operations.

Position Overview
This newly created position was established in order to support the advancement of science, the primary mission of LTA. The Director of Research will lead the development and successful implementation of the organization’s model for moving scientific ideas from bench to bedside and bedside to bench in a way that coordinates, maximally leverages, develops and nurtures strategic resources and partnerships including business and clinical operations, interaction with global clinical trials committee; scientific prioritization of projects the organization directly funds and/or fosters including development of target drug validation pipeline feeding into clinical trials network and strategic plan; development of effective global data systems to eliminate redundancy and serve translational aims in the fastest time possible; lead the organization in implementation of innovative clinical trial design with regard to Phase 1, IIA and possibly, III clinical trials at a national and international level.

- Manage relationships with external constituents including Board of Directors, Scientific Advisory Board, LAM researchers, Scientific Director of the LAM Center of Excellence at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, partner Foundations, scientific community, clinical and industry partners.

- Programs
- Scientific Agenda –
- Will work with the Founder to develop and be responsible for the implementation of the organization’s long and short-term translational research strategy.
- Work with experts in the drug development field to identify potential research opportunities and to analyze the effectiveness of current technologies to support LTA’s scientific portfolio.
- Recommend and implement innovative programs to speed drug development consistent with the scientific agenda.
- Oversee the organization’s use of funds to support LAM research. Responsible for ensuring LTA grant programs reflect scientific agenda and the organization’s mission to fast track LAM research.
- Provide oversight of the organization’s scientific meetings/summits programs including agenda and attendee list development, provide leadership over external and internal science programs, and follow through on key initiatives derived from programs.
- Play a key role in developing and driving teams drafting Phase 1- IIa clinical trial protocols.
- Business Development
- Develop collaborations with, but not limited to, industry, academia, government and other Foundations to support the organization’s translational research mission.

Qualifications
- MD with strong clinical research experience and/or PhD in a field relevant to tumor suppressor syndrome biology and or signaling pathways relevant to LAM and its potential treatment with clinical research experience.
- Experience integrating quantitative science and modern biology and a multidisciplinary orientation towards innovative infrastructure development to facilitate collaboration between disciplines; laboratories and academic, non-profit and industry partners.
- Candidates would ideally have some training in pulmonary medicine; cancer biology; endocrinology; molecular biology; biochemical engineering; molecular imaging; immunology and other areas.
- Experience working on a multi-center clinical trial with a grasp of overall scientific, operational and regulatory challenges.
- Experience drafting clinical protocols for Phase 1 and or IIa trials.

Position Overview
This newly created position was established in order to support the advancement of science, the primary mission of LTA. The candidate will provide a consistent and professional voice inside and outside the organization and will have varied responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- SCIENCE DATABASE MANAGEMENT:Working with senior management and colleagues to update and maintain LTA’s database (patients, scientists, physicians, vendors, interns/volunteers, and consultants), ensuring overall accuracy and thereby allowing for meaningful analysis. Manage researcher communications and follow-up through database and assume responsibility for creating scientific task calendar of events for peer review follow-up, publication work, research cross pollination efforts, etc.
- GRANT MANAGEMENT DATABASE: Identify and manage the implementation of a grant management database to accurately and efficiently track LTA programs. Working with senior management, interns and volunteers to rapidly integrate legacy data into the grant management database. Responsible for the daily management of the database including data entry, report generation, data analysis and system troubleshooting.
- SCIENCE EVENT COORDINATION: Spearheading and managing science-related event activities and logistics. Working with the LTA staff and senior management team, interns, volunteers, and outside vendors to ensure successful outcomes for all conferences, seminars, summits, retreats, etc. Events may include conferences, seminars, summits, retreats, and other scientific events. Tasks may include (but are not limited to) event agenda creation, event theme management, scientist relationship development, event and marketing material preparation and distribution, presentation management, guest list creation and management, food and beverage, on-site logistics, event set up and tear down attendee sign in, and post-event follow-up, as needed. Delegate tasks to the Event Planning staff as needed in order to increase efficiency and balance workload.
- EXTERNAL RESEARCHER LIAISON: Managing the flow of and utilizing good judgment in triaging researcher, patient, and vendor phone calls, emails, and regular mail -- while maintaining sensitivity regarding all confidential information. Assisting the LTA Founder with all science related queries and communications as needed.
- ADMINISTRATIVE:Maintaining the office scientific events calendar and scheduling internal and external meetings, keeping track of meeting agenda items, intern staffing management, etc.

Position Overview
The Development Coordinator will work with the Director of Operations to develop and grow the LTA fundraising and marketing strategies. The candidate will be an important member of a dynamic team whose goal is to help the organization meet its overall mission. The candidate will have varied responsibilities including (but not limited to):
- Development Strategy:Work with the Director of Operations to further the organization’s fundraising strategy focusing on donor relations.
- Identifying and reaching out to potential new donors
- Communicating and strengthening relationships with current donors through email solicitations, thank you notes, phone calls and in person
- Helping to build and support LTA regional chapters
- Maintaining donor related data entry,
- Events: The Development Coordinator will be responsible for all fundraising events. Tasks may include (but are not limited to) event agenda creation, event theme management, donor relationship development, event and marketing material preparation and distribution, presentation management, guest list creation and management, food and beverage, on-site logistics, event set up and tear down attendee sign in, and post-event follow-up, as needed. - Marketing: Work with the Director of Operations to enhance LTA marketing efforts including Quarterly Newsletter, press releases, website content, email blasts, and LTA’s Annual Report.

- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in related fields (Communications, English, Marketing, Science, and Business) desired. Masters preferred.
